Ada County Takes CAD System Offline Amid Cybersecurity Concerns

On July 13, 2024, the Ada County Sheriff's Office in Idaho detected unusual activity in their Emergency Communications system, prompting concerns of a potential cybersecurity incident. As a precaution, the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system was taken offline to prevent further issues. Despite this, all 911 and non-emergency lines, as well as law enforcement, fire, and medical emergency services, remain fully operational.

To address the incident, the Ada County Sheriff's Office has engaged nationally recognized third-party cybersecurity and data forensics consultants. They are investigating the unusual activity and working to safely restore the CAD system using backup systems in the meantime. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
