A persona linked by researchers to an Iran-aligned destructive campaign claimed it compromised the transit software vendor; Allegany County documented a vendor-related trip confirmation disruption.
The district said the June 9 incident is under investigation with local, state and federal law enforcement after phones, internet, testing and graduation livestreams were disrupted.
The auto retailer said phones and computers were affected after unauthorized access to business systems, while RansomHouse separately claimed Karl Chevrolet.
The district said malware affected some network systems, prompting restoration work, parent questions and a review of whether student or staff information was involved.
