Most Town Hall systems in Plainfield, Connecticut, were operational Thursday as officials investigated a potential cybersecurity breach, First Selectman Kevin Cunningham said.
The town's security system took precautionary steps to shut down and isolate the affected network, Cunningham said in an official update Thursday. The town's IT contractor was investigating and working to restore affected operations.
Voting systems operate separately from the affected municipal network and were not compromised by the incident, the town said.
“I want our residents to feel confident that their votes remain secure,” Cunningham said in the statement.
Police continued providing public-safety services during the response. The town said it was supporting the department to keep essential systems functioning.
Earlier Thursday, a WTNH report described the network isolation while police assessed whether information or systems had been compromised.
That question remained under investigation in the town's update. Officials had not announced full restoration or provided a timetable for the remaining recovery work.
