A cybersecurity incident led Honda to shut down its dealer portal Tuesday, disrupting financing, parts and repairs at U.S. dealerships.
Dealers reported access to the Interactive Network had returned Thursday morning, Car Dealership Guy News reported. The two-day interruption affected Honda and Acura automotive dealers and Honda powersports operations.
“Honda recently identified a cybersecurity incident involving Honda’s Interactive Network (iN),” a company spokesperson told the publication. Honda said it took the portal offline as a precaution while investigating.
Dealers reported being unable to submit credit applications, check recall information, order parts or obtain support for complicated repairs. Some collected refundable customer deposits or used third-party parts references while repair work waited.
Used Car News separately reported disruption Thursday, citing social media accounts of parts and service problems. The publication said it had not independently confirmed one customer's account with the dealership.
The accounts did not specify when the problems occurred. Monitoring of Honda's public website, also cited in the report, could not establish whether dealers could access the separate portal.
Honda said it had found no evidence that customer information was accessed. Its investigation remained open.
Complete recovery of the disrupted financing, parts and repair services remains unconfirmed.
