County or equivalent
Location overview

Campbell County stretches across the semiarid High Plains of northeastern Wyoming. Gillette is its largest city, and Wright is another community within the county. Ranchers settled the area in the late 19th century, and the Little Powder River crosses its open landscape. Coal production in the Powder River Basin later became a defining part of the local economy.
