Denver, Colorado, USA
County or equivalent
Location overview
Denver is Colorado’s capital and a consolidated city and county in the state’s Front Range region. It lies along the South Platte River at its confluence with Cherry Creek, east of the Rocky Mountain foothills. Its early settlements grew during the 1858 gold rush and united under the Denver name in 1860. Rail connections helped make it a regional commercial and financial center, and a 1902 constitutional amendment established the city-and-county government.
