Meriden, South Central Connecticut Planning Region, Connecticut, USA
Municipality
Location overview

Meriden lies in central Connecticut between New Haven and Hartford, framed by prominent traprock ridges. Hubbard Park, Hanging Hills and wooded reservoirs contrast with the compact neighborhoods and commercial corridors of the valley floor. The city emerged from colonial farm settlements and became a nationally important center for silverware and other metal manufacturing in the 19th century. Manufacturing, health care, education, logistics and commuter connections continue to shape Meriden.
