Bethany Beach, Sussex County, Delaware, USA

Bethany Beach is an Atlantic coastal town in Sussex County, Delaware. Members of the Disciples of Christ helped establish the community as a seaside religious retreat in 1901. Its first boardwalk was built in 1903, and a lifesaving station followed in 1907. The beach and boardwalk became central features of its development as a resort community. Coastal storms have repeatedly reshaped the oceanfront and required rebuilding parts of the boardwalk.
