Kaplan, Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, USA

Kaplan is an incorporated city in Vermilion Parish in south-central Louisiana, west of Abbeville. The settlement developed on former plantation land and grew as the Southern Pacific Railroad connected it with Abbeville and Gueydan. Louisiana highways 14 and 35 provide east-west and north-south routes through the area. Its Main Street and local museum preserve aspects of the community’s Cajun culture and Mardi Gras traditions.
