Everett is a compact city just north of Boston in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. The Mystic and Malden rivers border its southern and western sides and helped support 19th-century industrial growth. Residential neighborhoods and commercial streets occupy much of the upland city, while port and industrial uses developed along the waterfront. Parts of the Malden River shore are shifting toward parks, offices and other new uses, reflecting a changing urban landscape.
