Maple Plain is a small city in western Hennepin County, about 25 miles from downtown Minneapolis along U.S. Highway 12. The community occupies roughly 800 acres and is surrounded by forests, rolling farmland and lakes, with Baker Regional Park forming part of its eastern edge. Maple Plain had an estimated population of 1,648 in 2024. Its compact downtown serves both city residents and the surrounding rural area.
