Hillsboro is a city in the Tualatin River Basin west of Portland and the seat of Washington County. It incorporated in 1876 after developing as a center for agriculture, commerce and government. Its downtown includes the county courthouse and civic buildings, while neighborhoods such as Orenco reflect later growth. The city has become a center of the Silicon Forest technology industry alongside its continuing ties to surrounding farmland.
