Janesville is a city in southern Wisconsin and the seat of Rock County. It developed along the Rock River, where water-powered mills supported its early growth. Incorporated in 1853, the city later became a manufacturing center associated with automobile and fountain-pen production. The river corridor remains an important part of its parks and recreational landscape.
