Casper, Natrona County, Wyoming, USA
Municipality
Location overview

Casper is a city on the North Platte River in central Wyoming and the seat of Natrona County. Overland trails crossed the river nearby, and a railroad helped establish the town in 1888. Ranching and later oil development shaped its growth as a regional center. Historic downtown buildings preserve traces of the early railroad and oil periods. The river, nearby Casper Mountain and trail heritage give the city a setting that combines high-plains landscape with recreation and Wyoming history.
