Onslow County Schools is a geographic public-school district in southeastern North Carolina serving most of Onslow County, including Jacksonville and the communities of Richlands, Swansboro, Holly Ridge, North Topsail Beach, Sneads Ferry, Hubert, Piney Green and surrounding rural areas. The district lies within North Carolina’s Coastal Plain and extends from inland agricultural and forested areas eastward to tidal creeks, estuaries and the Atlantic coast around Topsail Island and the New River. Its territory is not completely coterminous with Onslow County: Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River are generally outside the Onslow County Schools service area because their schools are operated by the Department of Defense Education Activity. Within the district, students are assigned through separate elementary, middle and high school attendance zones that may change as schools open or enrollment patterns shift; the district publishes current attendance-zone maps and an address-based school lookup tool.
