The City of Mentor is the municipal government of Mentor in Lake County, northeastern Ohio. Its offices provide police and fire protection, planning, public works, economic development, parks and recreation services. City Hall is on Civic Center Boulevard, and the city maintains a park system that includes the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve along Lake Erie. Mentor occupies part of the eastern Cleveland metropolitan area and includes residential neighborhoods, commercial corridors and lakefront recreation sites. The municipality grew from the former Mentor Village and Mentor Township, which merged in 1963, giving the present city its boundaries and local government.
