City of Rapid City

The City of Rapid City is the municipal government responsible for administering South Dakota’s second-largest city and the Pennington County seat. Led by the mayor and City Council, it sets local policy, adopts budgets and ordinances, and oversees departments that provide police and fire protection, water and wastewater service, streets and transit, solid waste collection, parks, libraries, planning, permitting, finance and information technology. The government also manages public infrastructure, development review, utility billing and other services used by residents and businesses.
