Franklin County Government

Franklin County Government provides county administration and public services in western Maine, with its commissioners’ office based in Farmington. An elected board of county commissioners oversees county operations, supported by an administrator, treasury and other administrative staff. County offices maintain property and probate records, administer finances and support public access to government information. Its public-safety functions include the sheriff’s office, detention center, regional communications and emergency management. The county also administers responsibilities for unorganized territories within its jurisdiction, while municipal governments continue to provide their own local services in incorporated towns.
