Kenaitze Indian Tribe

The Kenaitze Indian Tribe is a federally recognized sovereign Alaska Native tribe based in Kenai on the Kenai Peninsula. Its citizens are Kahtnuht’ana Dena’ina, whose ancestral homeland centers on the Kenai River and surrounding lands of Southcentral Alaska. The tribe has more than 2,100 citizens and is governed by an elected Tribal Council. It operates health care, education, housing, social services, cultural programs and other community institutions for tribal citizens and area residents. Language revitalization, subsistence traditions and stewardship of Dena’ina lands and waters are central to its cultural mission.
