Lorain County

Lorain County’s government serves a northeastern Ohio county along Lake Erie, with its principal administrative offices in Elyria. Three elected commissioners form its general administrative body and serve the county at large. The board controls county budgets and appropriations, providing financial support for departments, courts and other elected offices. A county administrator coordinates departments under the commissioners, including budget and fiscal operations, community and economic development, emergency management, information technology and job and family services. The commissioners also oversee responsibilities involving water and sewer districts, drainage improvements and solid waste disposal.
