University Medical Center Health System

UMC Health System is the public hospital system operated by the Lubbock County Hospital District in Lubbock, Texas. Its University Medical Center provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency care for Lubbock County and surrounding communities in West Texas and eastern New Mexico. The system also includes UMC Health & Wellness Hospital, which opened in southwest Lubbock in 2023, and an affiliated network of physician clinics. University Medical Center serves as a teaching hospital for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. A Board of Managers governs the district, whose statutory responsibility includes medical and hospital care for county residents and people unable to pay.
