A December 2025 cybersecurity incident compromised part of the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office IT infrastructure and caused the loss or deletion of financial reports. The event, combined with accounting staffing shortages and weak backup and recovery processes, kept the office’s books from being ready for audit until June 2026 and contributed to the county’s late annual audit.
