University of Nebraska Medical Center Brand Wise WordPress Cyber Incident

Attackers exploited a WordPress vulnerability in a public-facing UNMC environment, accessed the web server and placed malicious web shells. UNMC's Brand Wise website was unavailable by Aug. 12, 2026, and the university announced its return Oct. 5 after forensic work, rebuilding and added security controls. UNMC said it found no evidence of sensitive data loss.
