Valley View Independent School District

Valley View ISD in Hidalgo County disclosed a November 2025 cyber incident that disrupted computers and phones. A later Texas attorney general filing reported 3,806 Texans affected and listed names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth as exposed information.
The incident is confirmed to be cyber-related, but the specific attack mechanism is unknown.
Data was made accessible to unauthorized parties through misconfiguration, system compromise, improper access controls, or another unintended condition.
Telephone, voice-over-IP, call-center, or related voice communication services were unavailable or materially impaired.
Internal business, administrative, operational, or staff-facing systems were unavailable.
Instruction, student services, school administration, learning platforms, transportation, or other educational operations were materially affected.
The incident may involve extortion, but available evidence does not establish which extortion indicators were present.
Our Nov. 12 report reviewed Valley View ISD’s notice to families saying it was experiencing a cybersecurity incident affecting computer systems and phone lines. The district continued instruction and said students and staff were safe. This supports confirmed cyber involvement. A later Texas attorney general breach register filing for Valley View ISD, 9701 S. Jackson Road, Pharr, reported 3,806 Texans affected; it lists names, Social Security numbers and dates of birth and says notice was sent by U.S. mail. The filing was posted May 1, 2026. It does not establish how the data was accessed.
The disruption affected district computers and telephones. Classes remained in session, but the loss of those systems interrupted normal school administration and communication. The district’s official site describes a roughly 10-square-mile school district in the Hidalgo-Pharr area; its offices and campuses are listed at addresses in both communities. The 2025 Census school-district boundary is distinct from both cities and Hidalgo County.
The district did not provide a full restoration timeline in the reviewed material. Because the event was in November 2025, operational status is presumed resolved without treating an unverified all-clear as fact.
Confidence is high that the disclosed cyber incident affected computers and phones. The cause, attack method, extent of system loss and possible extortion remain unknown. The state filing establishes a reported personal-data breach, but does not itself establish exfiltration mechanics or a named actor.
