Masimo Cyberattack Halts Production, Sparks FBI Probe

Masimo Corporation reported that a cyberattack on April 27 disrupted its internal IT infrastructure, forcing shutdowns across its manufacturing operations and delaying customer orders. The Irvine, California–based medical device company said the attack targeted its on-premises systems, but its cloud-based hospital data services remain unaffected. In regulatory filings, Masimo stated that there is no evidence of employee or patient data being compromised. The FBI has reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, and the company continues working to restore operations and limit the disruption.

The attack brought down Masimo’s corporate website for several days, disabled internal systems, and left employees unable to access core resources. While the company has not officially confirmed ransomware, the scope and duration of the outage, along with the FBI’s involvement, strongly suggest a serious intrusion. Despite the operational setback, Masimo reaffirmed its annual revenue forecast, though it lowered its profit margin outlook due to unrelated tariff pressures. The company also announced a $350 million agreement to sell its consumer audio division, Sound United, to Harman International.

Masimo is a leading global provider of noninvasive monitoring technologies, including pulse oximeters and hospital-based patient monitoring systems used in critical care. Its products are deployed in hospitals and homes worldwide. The cyberattack comes amid internal restructuring, with new leadership and ongoing pressure from activist investor Politan Capital. It follows a rising wave of cyber incidents across the healthcare and medical device sectors, including recent ransomware attacks on Artivion in Georgia and Radin Health in Wyoming—both of which disrupted operations and exposed systemic cybersecurity vulnerabilities in health tech infrastructure.
