Location overview
Caldwell County lies south of Austin in south-central Texas. Lockhart is the county seat. Blackland prairie in the northwest gives way to hillier terrain and sandy soils in the southeast. Plum Creek and its tributaries drain much of the county, and the San Marcos River separates it from neighboring Guadalupe County.
