Capital Area Council of Governments 911 Service
Organization overview

The Capital Area Council of Governments’ 911 service supports emergency call handling across a 10-county region in Central Texas. It operates through the Capital Area Emergency Communications District, a state political subdivision established in 2013 to provide emergency communications services to participating local governments. CAPCOG supplies the district’s management and staff, while its Executive Committee serves as the district’s Board of Managers. The program provides primary and redundant networks, call-handling equipment, mapping support and maintenance for public safety answering points. It also coordinates emergency telecommunicator training, public education and regional addressing work with county personnel.
