Milwaukee County occupies a compact stretch of southeastern Wisconsin along Lake Michigan, with Milwaukee as its county seat and largest city. Its 19 municipalities range from dense lakefront neighborhoods to inner-ring suburbs, while the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic rivers link much of the county to the lake.
