Racine County extends from the Lake Michigan shoreline westward across southeastern Wisconsin, with the city of Racine as its county seat. The Root River crosses a landscape that shifts from lakefront bluffs and urban neighborhoods to rolling farmland, woodlands and small inland communities. Established during Wisconsin’s territorial era, the county grew through agriculture, Great Lakes trade and the rise of manufacturing in Racine and nearby towns. Racine County had about 198,900 residents in 2025. Manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, health care, food production and lakefront recreation remain prominent in its economy.
