Pagosa Springs is a town in southwestern Colorado and the seat of Archuleta County, with the San Juan River flowing through its downtown. The townsite was platted in 1883 and incorporated in 1891. Naturally occurring mineral hot springs are a defining feature of the community. Logging, mining and ranching shaped its early economy, with rail connections helping those industries develop. Tourism and outdoor recreation are prominent today, and a riverwalk follows the restored downtown river corridor.
