Axis Health System

Axis Health System is a private nonprofit health care provider serving western and southwestern Colorado. It operates as the public name of Southwest Colorado Mental Health Center Inc., which began providing mental health counseling in 1960. The organization adopted the Axis name in 2010 as its work expanded beyond behavioral health. Its clinics combine primary care, mental health and substance use treatment, dental care and pharmacy services, while regional crisis centers provide stabilization and response services. A local board of directors governs the organization, and a majority of its members are patients or consumers of its services.
