Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa, USA

Ankeny is a city in Polk County, about seven miles north of downtown Des Moines in central Iowa. It began as a farming and railroad community in the 1870s and was incorporated in 1903. The city later grew into a major part of the Des Moines metropolitan area, with residential neighborhoods, workplaces and regional transportation links. Interstate 35 runs along its eastern side, connecting the city with Ames and the broader Midwest. Ankeny’s parks and long trail network connect neighborhoods with recreational destinations across central Iowa.
