Location overview

Idaho Falls is a city on the upper Snake River in southeastern Idaho and the seat of Bonneville County. It developed as Eagle Rock around a river crossing and railroad activity before taking its present name in 1891. Irrigated farming helped shape the surrounding economy. Hydroelectric works and a riverwalk make the Snake River a defining feature of the city. Idaho Falls is a regional center for commerce, health care, education and culture.
