Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas, USA

Arkansas City is a city in Cowley County in south-central Kansas, near the confluence of the Arkansas and Walnut rivers. It lies at the southern edge of the Flint Hills. The community was a starting point for the Cherokee Strip land rush of 1893. Agribusiness and manufacturing are important parts of its economy, including food processing and manufactured housing. Cowley College and the restored Burford Theatre are among its educational and cultural institutions.
