The City of Arkansas City Water Treatment Plant is the municipal drinking-water treatment operation in Arkansas City, Kansas. It is part of the city’s Environmental Services Department, alongside separate water distribution and wastewater functions. The plant draws groundwater from 10 wells west of the Arkansas River and is permitted to soften and filter up to 5.4 million gallons a day. Its treatment process uses Greensand filtration and reverse osmosis to purify water from the river’s alluvial deposits. Located at 400 W. Madison Ave., the facility supplies the city’s public water system and produces annual consumer confidence reports describing water sources, testing and regulatory compliance.
