Location overview
Brooksville is a city in northern Kentucky and the seat of Bracken County. Its center lies at the junction of Kentucky routes 10 and 19, where an early road between Augusta and Cynthiana crossed an older travel route. The settlement was known as Woodward’s Crossroads before becoming the county seat. County government moved there from Augusta in 1833, and the legislature formally approved the transfer in 1839. The town was renamed for David Brooks, the legislator who sponsored the transfer.
