Alpine Township lies directly north of Grand Rapids in western Kent County, extending from the suburban Comstock Park area into open country. Alpine Avenue forms its main commercial corridor, while orchards, farms and wooded land become more prominent toward the township’s northern boundary. Portions of the Grand River valley and nearby regional trails connect the township with the natural landscape of northern metropolitan Grand Rapids. Alpine Township had an estimated population of 14,103 in 2024, little changed from its 2020 Census count of 14,079. Retail, food processing, light manufacturing, agriculture, construction and logistics contribute to the local economy.
