Belmont is a community in Kent County, Michigan, set within the lake plains, river valleys and glacial terrain of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Belmont is an unincorporated community along the Rogue River just north of the Grand Rapids urban area. The community’s older landscape still reflects an era when timber, farming, railroads and industrialization guided nineteenth- and twentieth-century growth. Manufacturing, education, health care, agriculture and regional services remain central. Cultural institutions and recreation add depth to the local landscape.
