Gaines Township, Kent County, Michigan, USA

Gaines Township lies south of Kentwood in southern Kent County and includes much of the Cutlerville community as well as Dutton. U.S. 131 and M-6 cross a landscape where expanding neighborhoods and business parks meet farmland and open country. Buck Creek and smaller waterways run through the township, adding green corridors to its increasingly suburban setting. Gaines Township had an estimated population of 30,302 in 2024, about 5.2% above the 2020 estimates base. Distribution, manufacturing, retail, construction, health care and agriculture are important parts of the local economy.
