Grand Ledge is a community in Eaton County, Michigan, set within the lake plains, river valleys and glacial terrain of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Sandstone ledges along the Grand River give this small city its name and most distinctive landscape. Local settlement followed the broader regional pattern: timber, farming, railroads and industrialization guided nineteenth- and twentieth-century growth, followed by expanding road connections.
