Location overview
Kent City is a village in northwestern Kent County, surrounded by Tyrone Township and situated about 20 miles north of Grand Rapids. A compact street grid and traditional main street form its center, with orchards, farms and wooded land extending beyond the village. The community developed as a local agricultural and rail center and remains closely connected to the fruit-growing region of northern Kent County. Kent City recorded 1,262 residents in the 2020 Census. Agriculture, food production, local retail, construction, education and commuting to larger West Michigan employment centers support its economy.
