Kentwood lies south and east of Grand Rapids in central Kent County, between Wyoming, Cascade Township and Gaines Township. The city consists of established neighborhoods, newer residential areas and broad commercial and industrial corridors near M-6, Interstate 96 and major surface roads. Gerald R. Ford International Airport borders the city to the east, reinforcing Kentwood’s connection to regional travel and logistics. Kentwood had an estimated population of 54,776 in 2025, about 0.8% above the 2020 estimates base, and is among West Michigan’s most diverse communities. Manufacturing, distribution, health care, retail, hospitality and professional services are major parts of its economy.
