Location overview

Mount Clemens is a city on the Clinton River in Macomb County, Michigan. Named the county seat in 1818, it incorporated as a village in 1837 and became a city in 1879. Mineral waters discovered during salt-well drilling helped establish a bathhouse and hotel industry in the late 19th century. Boatbuilding and repair also developed along the river. Historic homes and downtown buildings reflect the city’s former role as a mineral-bath resort.
