Austin, Mower County, Minnesota, USA

Austin is the seat of Mower County in southeastern Minnesota. It lies along the Cedar River at the junction of Interstate 90 and U.S. Highway 218. The community was named for Austin Nichols, who settled in the area in 1853. River-powered mills and later railroads shaped its early development. Food processing is a longstanding local industry, with the company that became Hormel Foods established in 1891.
