Chanhassen, Carver County, Minnesota, USA

Chanhassen is a city in eastern Carver County, about 20 miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis, with small portions extending into Hennepin County. Lakes Ann, Susan, Riley and Lotus, wooded neighborhoods and an extensive trail network give the community a distinctly lake-country setting. Its Dakota-derived name refers to the sugar maple, and the modern city took shape in 1967 when the village and surrounding township merged after more than a century of agricultural settlement. Chanhassen had about 25,700 residents in 2025. The city is known for the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, Prince’s Paisley Park studio and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, alongside employers in manufacturing, engineering, financial services and food production.
