Location overview
Delano is a city in southeastern Wright County on the South Fork Crow River, about 30 miles west of Minneapolis. The river curves through its historic downtown, while U.S. Highway 12 connects the community with the western Twin Cities region. First known as Crow River, the settlement was renamed for railroad official Francis Roach Delano and incorporated in 1876. Delano had about 7,800 residents in 2025. Its present-day character combines a preserved small-town center and surrounding farmland with manufacturing, construction, retail and growing residential neighborhoods shaped by the nearby metropolitan area.
