Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico, USA

Roswell is a city in southeastern New Mexico and the seat of Chaves County. Its early commercial settlement included a store and lodging established in 1869 by Van C. Smith and Aaron Wilburn. Smith named the community after his father, Roswell Smith. The city has been home to the New Mexico Military Institute since 1891.
