Marlboro, Ulster County, New York, USA

Marlboro is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Marlborough, on the western side of the Hudson River in southeastern Ulster County. It sits along the Route 9W corridor amid orchards, vineyards and the wooded slopes of Marlboro Mountain. The hamlet grew around mills powered by steeply descending Lattintown Creek, which forms a notable cataract before reaching the Hudson, and its river landing connected local farm products with distant markets. Apples, grapes and other fruit have shaped the surrounding countryside for generations, supported historically by cold-storage plants and cooperative shipping. Today Marlboro retains a small commercial center while farms, wineries, music venues, river scenery and regional commuting define much of its character.
