Chadds Ford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA

Municipality

Location overview

Chadds Ford is a township community in the Brandywine Valley of Delaware County, close to the Pennsylvania-Delaware line. Wooded hills, old farmsteads and the Brandywine Creek give the area a rural character despite its position within metropolitan Philadelphia. The creek crossing figured in the 1777 Battle of Brandywine, while the surrounding landscape later became closely associated with the Wyeth family of artists. Historic sites, museums, wineries, recreation and small commercial centers share the township with residential neighborhoods and protected open space.
