Location overview

Phoenixville is a borough on the Schuylkill River in northern Chester County, where French Creek enters the river northwest of Philadelphia. Its compact downtown is surrounded by wooded hills, former industrial land, older neighborhoods and access to regional trails. The community grew around iron and steel production, and the former Phoenix Iron Works remains a defining part of its 19th-century history. Restaurants, arts venues, festivals and new housing have helped turn the old mill town into a lively regional destination.
